ESTA FORM FOR ENTRY PERMIT TO THE USA FOR SWEDISH CITIZENS

The online visa system, known as ESTA, allows citizens of Sweden, which participate in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to apply online for ESTA for entry to the United States. The Visa Waiver Program enables travelers to visit the USA for tourism, business, medical or short-term study programs. These visits can only last for up to 90 days. The ESTA is a travel authorization to enter the USA, and is not a regular travel visa. If you are a Swedish citizen and your ESTA is not approved, you are required to apply for a B-1 or a B-2 visa at the US Embassy in Stockholm.

Swedish passport holders who wish to visit the United States may complete the ESTA form online by following four easy steps. The processing of your application may take up to 72 hours. Approved ESTAs for entry to the United States are valid for two years, and travelers must fly with a signatory carrier. Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) is a well-known airline and is a signatory carrier.

Sweden became part of the Visa Waiver Program in October 1989. Since joining the VWP, it has been easier for Swedish citizens to visit the United States. The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) became mandatory in 2009 and can be obtained by completing an online application form. Between October 2013 and October 2014, 568,765 Swedish nationals visited the United States under the Visa Waiver Program.
