USA VISA ONLINE (ESTA) FOR DANISH CITIZENS

Danish citizens who wish to visit the United States can complete the USA Visa application online (ESTA -Electronic System for Travel Authorization). The online system enables citizens of Denmark, which participate in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to apply for a travel authorization. The VWP grants travelers to visit the U.S. for business or pleasure, as well as medical purposes and short-term study programs for up to 90 days. The ESTA is a travel authorization to enter the United States and is not a regular US visa. If you hold a Danish passport, you may apply for your travel authorization to the USA. However, you may have to apply for a B-1 or B-2 visa at the US Embassy in Copenhagen, if your ESTA application is not approved.

The ESTA system was introduced in 2008 and became mandatory in 2009. It is still a requirement for Danish nationals to this day. Your processing request may take up to 72 hours. All travelers are recommended to apply at least 72 hours before departure. Approved travel authorizations are valid for two years, and travelers are required to fly with a signatory carrier. For example, SAS is a well-known airline that departs from Denmark and is a signatory carrier.

In 1991, Denmark joined the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), together with 12 other countries. Since joining the VWP in 1991, it has become easier for Danish nationals to visit the United States. Either it is for business or pleasure. Between October 2013 and October 2014, 323,271 Danish nationals used the Visa Waiver Program to enter the United States.
